Perceivable Experience vs. Non-perceivable Experience

Updated: 8/14/2024

There is a clear limit on how we perceive information/experience, and there is a wide range of possibilities to offer audiences an experience that goes beyond this boundary → More dense, faster experience
Thresholds of Perception (Psychophysics) / Cognitive Load / Sensory, Auditory, Visual Perception → Has limits, upper bound & lower bound
But primitives on how the hyperobjects work →It does not have to necessarily be bounded by our perceptual limits. In fact, the word hyperobject – too hyper to comprehend – insists that we can only perceive the part of this gigantic ecological sculpture and that our perceive meets the limit when confronted with these sculptures.
Thus, good artistic experiments don’t have to always focus on giving the perceivable/plausible/desirable experience —> This will lead to kitsch on many occasions. Rather, it can intentionally/occasionally offer non-perceivable experience, allowing audiences to immerse within this non-perceivable/incomprehensible domain – As thus is the circumstance/fundamental of the world we’re living in, and we need to communicate the fact that we are living within the hyperobject. (one of the few facts in the age of post-truth)
One important feature: It is important to meticulously craft this experience. Rather than just giving a full chaos or fully non-perceivable/non-comprehendible thus losing audiences’ potential interest from the very start, we need a balance - Create a sort of comprehendible non-comprehendible, perceivable non-perceivable. (Just enough to intrigue audiences and make them interact/invite) - This will, indeed, induce another conceptual paradox/irony obviously…
Insight within the User Interface or User Experience (i.e., attacking the user’s conscious – Unloading the user’s conscious load yet attacking them in the back) → The role of a user interface is → Post-processing raw information, the sort of raw information which is moving so fast and vastly (hyperobject) that no human being can possibly capture → And UI is the path of communication, thus post-processing this raw information in the form that humans can understand. Thus, faking information/visualising information/communicating information/faking information → Packaging the information which is non-perceivable. Making non-perceivable information perceivable.
Connected with the theme of brutal interface → Brtual Interface is the most representative non-perceivable interface, just representing the raw fundamental on how it is built upon (Brutal interface: still a field to deeply research for)
Strategy within the KAIST Opening piece: How GPT keeps on generating a large chunk of the amount of text (or trash, or numbers) — The intensity of
