Modular approach to the platform art. Note that platform art != Art Platform. An Art Platform means platform for selling art. Platform Art means a platformatic approach to the web-based artistic practice.
If an art does not exist in the form of installation or static (pre-generated) moving image, If art is not bounded by certain software bundles or technical non-public setups such as Touch Designer, If art is interactive, accessible to everyone quite easily → If the art is in the form of web art, That art is truly platformatic.
Any audience, any user can join the artwork, the artwork itself is a platform. And it is this platformatic feature that emphasises the meaning of such artistic practice. Users co-contribute, co-interact with the artwork, creating and redefining the artwork everytime → No two experiences will be the same.
Now the artwork does not exist in the forms of the final installation, or multi-channels installation. It exists in the form of the platform → This is the final ultimate form. How it’s presented, how it’s physicalised, and how it’s installed might be important, but secondary. It is the platform, and the intangible connection of the platform between different devices that matters.
A modular approach: Platform art might not be just simple, it might contain different interconnection & different parts & different interactive input & different generative output. Rather than showcasing the whole, artist/curator can select to exhibit/install only the some of it within the physical showcasing. A modular approach: don’t have to show the all artistic features, modularise the platform art, separate each feature, and take a modular & lean form to showcase the art. Now there is more possible existential output format than what it was before: This is the future of art.
